The Hollywood Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is pleased to announce that Hollywood’s long-time and local darling artist, Rob Robi, is joining the Downtown Hollywood Mural Project to paint “The Concrete Daydream” at Muzart Studios (1946 Harrison Street). Slated to coincide with ArtWalk on Saturday, July 20 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. in Downtown Hollywood’s Live Music District, Robi will begin executing his intergalactic vision for the 720-square-foot wall at the popular arts center, which offers creative courses for all ages.

“We offer a lot of youth workshops and teach patience by encouraging our students to work at their own pace,” says Tina Buccellato, owner and executive director at Muzart. “Some of our students are just starting their journey in art, so it’s new and exciting for them. ’The Concrete Daydream’ will capture that same innocent curiosity, especially since children will be some of the protagonists in Rob’s piece.”

The imaginative artist is experienced in creating murals for younger audiences, and has been a long-time pillar of the Hollywood artistic community. Robi’s previous works include interior walls of children’s rooms, doctor’s offices and murals at various grade schools, namely Hollywood Central Elementary. Ranging from eighteen months to adult art classes, Muzart Studios is a creative outlet for the entire family. This DHMP piece will uniquely address each of the organization’s audiences.

Remaining true to his signature style, Robi’s plan for Muzart incorporates rich colors, realistic figures and natural elements to create a dreamscape for the exterior of the building. “The Concrete Daydream” blends deep purples and soft blues to illustrate a soothing imaginative scene. Bubble-like spheres and small flowers drift freely throughout the mural. “Large murals have a way of silently creating an entirely new atmosphere,” said Robi. “The concept for this particular mural is a mix of design meets fantasy art.”

Muzart presents music, yoga, drama, and cooking classes in addition to visual art sessions, and holds monthly events for adults such as “Date Nites” and “Wine and Paint Parties.” The studios are currently offering special summer art workshops for ages 6 – 16. Children can sign up weekly, and all supplies are included in the cost. Each session includes music, snacks and ends with an art show.
